Roll them up. Sure, it’s not the most exciting way to spend a rainy afternoon, but this tried-and-true method remains the most cost-effective way to easily turn your coins to cash. Many banks will give you coin wrappers for free, but you can also find cheap packs in various sizes at the dollar store. I’d never take my change in unrolled, nor would most people and even though this is now 2018 (October for those wondering) – some banks will still give out free coin wrappers. So a proper response for a teller would be, “I’m sorry Sir and/or Madamor other these days, but we do not accept loose change. Banks usually give these cylindrical wrappers out for free, at least in the United States and in countries that use the euro as currency, and they are also available for purchase at some supermarkets. Many banks will give you coin wrappers for free, but you can also find cheap packs in various sizes at the dollar store. Once you’ve secured your coin wrappers and a full piggy bank, the fun begins. As mentioned, if you have an account with a bank they will put any quantity of change (shy of a truck load) through their professional counting machines for no charge. If you really want to take the time to wrap all those coins yourself you can go to any of the 'Dollar' stores i.e. General, etc. And buy a whole package of coin wrappers for a $1. Does TD Bank accept wrapped coins now? We will gladly accept rolled coins from our Customers and provide free coin wrappers if you need them. Feel free to visit us during lobby hours to pick up coin wrappers. Major banks do not include banks that operate in retail stores such as grocery stores, or banks that do not fall in an MSA.

I'm getting a bundle of change quicker than I thought I would, and my bank only takes rolls of coins. I split the cost with my mother last time for empty change rolls, but I've used about half the coin rolls (that's an estimate - I keep getting rolls of pennies a lot from picking them up and/or receiving them as change, so at least 5 rolls of pennies and a roll of each other type of coins).
So, my mother is asking me to get new coin rolls for myself, so she can still use some. Note: I am using these rolls of coins for extra student loan payments on my federal loans, so the smaller cost the better.
So, any ideas on where I can get them either cheaply and/or for free?

A coin wrapper, sometimes known as a bank roll or roll, is a paper or plastic container for a number of coins.
In the United States, empty rolls are available free at most banks in every denomination (though it is becoming increasingly difficult for half dollar and dollar to be readily made available). The rolls come flat and one side will have to be folded to allow for coins to be placed inside. When the roll is full, the top side will need to be folded. Typically, the full rolls are brought back to the banks in exchange for currency or to be deposited. The Royal Canadian Mint uses check weighers to verify the number of coins per roll.[1]
In the Eurozone, empty plastic rolls are used at banks in every denomination, with five-coin staggered rows. Their main advantages are:
- Reliability
- Their five-coin staggered rows and transparency make quick verification of contents possible.
- Certainty
- They provide a high degree of certainty (transparency, reliable and legible contents).
- Efficiency
- The high certainty means less time spent processing coins, while the solidity and two-way closure system increase the number of times the coin roll can be used, effectively reducing its overall cost.
In Japan, machine-wrapped, plastic coin rolls are circulated almost exclusively, as handmade coin rolls are rare. Each roll holds 50 coins. Customers can change bills into coin rolls easily using automatic money changers at Japanese banks.
In the United Kingdom, coin rolls are not used. Instead, small plastic bags are provided free of charge at banks which are filled by the customer with the appropriate number of the same value coin as printed on the bag. When depositing or changing, the bags are weighed at the bank to check they contain the right number.

Searching rolls[edit]
Often, coin collectors will ask for full rolls from the bank to search the contents in hopes of finding an interesting piece. Some collectors also save coins of bullion value, such as copper cents and silverhalf-dollars. This practice is called coin roll hunting. It is also known as cherry picking. Full rolls are also requested by vendors to make change.
Fraud[edit]
Bank rolls are vulnerable to a variety of scams, such as rolling slugs of no value or coins of a lesser value.[2] See also coin rolling scams.
